SmartICE Sea Monitoring & Information Inc. was a work-integrated social enterprise operating in Northern Canada. The organization provided sea ice monitoring tools that combined Inuit knowledge with advanced technologies to improve safety, travel, and economic development in Arctic communities. In late 2021, as demand for its services was growing, the organization was considering how to sustainably scale operations without compromising its not-for-profit structure, social mission, or trusted relationships with Indigenous partners.
