In late 2024, the co-founder of Bumpp Pte. Ltd. (Bumpp), a digital business card (DBC) provider based in Singapore, faced a critical decision as the company’s growth began to plateau. Since its 2020 launch, Bumpp, which used near-field communication (NFC), quick-response (QR) codes, and AirDrop to facilitate the exchange of contact information, had gained strong traction in hybrid work environments. However, cultural barriers in its home market, where traditional business cards remained the norm, slowed adoption. In contrast, international markets like the United States and European Union showed quicker acceptance. Recognizing the opportunity for expansion, the co-founder sought a marketing strategy that would reignite local sales while capitalizing on the more receptive international markets and aimed to overcome cultural resistance and accelerate global growth.
