First-time entrepreneurs and husband-wife duo Phalgun Polepalli and Shwetha Badarinath faced dilemmas through their journey of launching a start-up to scaling it up within five years. The parent company they founded in Bengaluru, India, in 2018, DICE Toy Labs Pvt. Ltd., operated four different brands, which were created to adopt forward and backward integration, achieve growth, and secure brand visibility. In 2022, the company renamed its board game division from DICE Toy Labs to Mozaic Games to position itself as a credible board game designer and publisher. As Mozaic Games had both online and offline distribution channels, supply and demand challenges, competition within cost, and margins on both distribution channels would need to be considered.
