Tariff wars are reverberating across sectors, disrupting supply chains, inflating input costs, and triggering volatility in customer demand. Many organizations, particularly those dependent on international sourcing, are now caught between rising costs and eroding margins. Absorbing costs hurts profit margins, while passing them on risks increasing brand switch and churn rates. This is just one illustration of how fragile and interdependent the global economic system has become. Whether the disruption comes from sanctions, cybersecurity breaches, regulatory shifts, or regional conflicts, the result is the same: instability. The real risk is not a single event but the convergence of many simultaneous disruptions. Yet some companies are turning disruption into advantage by scaling artificial intelligence across the enterprise. Based on a survey of 2,000 executives, we find that only 8 per cent—have embedded AI into strategy. In 2023, these AI “front-runners” grew?revenue seven points faster while delivering shareholder returns six points higher than peers. Building on dynamic capabilities theory, this article outlines how they have deployed AI to strengthen their ability to sense risks, mobilize resources, and reconfigure operations amid multiple, simultaneous disruptions. Case examples from utilities, manufacturing, and insurance show that agentic AI is emerging as a foundation for resilience and sustained competitive advantage.
