Two friends, Alina Ahmed and Amer Haider, later joined by an adviser, Naeem Zafar, founded a company that offered security protocols and algorithms for connecting mobile devices to corporate enterprise servers. In Case A, Bitzer Mobile Inc., officially launched in 2020, is accepted into a respected accelerator with seed funding of US$50,000 to take the technology from idea to marketing. Key to this phase of the startup’s growth is establishing how the company’s founding stock will be divided between the three founders, each of whom contributed different expertise and have different levels of commitment to the next stage of the company. In Case B, the founders deal with the shifts that come with company valuations, stock prices, and ownership dilution as investors are sought, one founder departs, a new executive team is hired, and the founders eventually seek an exit for the company. As the founders prepare for an acquisition, Ahmed needs to undertake an analysis to determine what she expects and needs.
