Scan Global Logistics (SGL) was a leading Danish logistics service provider with worldwide operations. SGL primarily offered air and ocean freight services in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) market, of which a large share came from ocean freight. The company was seeing a drop in revenues in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic due to the geopolitical situation and uncertainties in the business environment globally. The head of products at SGL was considering introducing road transportation services in the ASEAN market to boost SGL’s revenues and meet other corporate objectives centred around superior customer service and sustainability. Doing so would also augment the aid and relief services SLG provided as a vendor of the United Nations and its divisions. However, SLG had to consider various factors before introducing road transportation services in the ASEAN market, including the disadvantages of such a decision. Alternatively, SGL could continue to focus on its sea and air transportation services.
